The study visit was undertaken by Ms. Aparna Sai D., Dr. Saurabh Kishor Ojha, and the students of Third Year B.Arch, Section A. The visit included the following significant architectural and institutional projects: 

• Albert Hall Museum: Students studied museum planning, circulation, galleries, courtyards, natural lighting, architectural detailing, and the relationship between the building and public spaces. The visit also provided insights into traditional spatial organisation and climatic responses.

• Rajasthan International Centre (RIC): Students examined the planning of convention and institutional facilities, including public and assembly spaces, circulation, functional zoning, auditoriums, and contemporary architectural requirements.

• ITC Rajputana: Students understood the planning and functioning of major public areas, with special focus on Suryavanshi Mahal as a banquet/assembly space. The visit also covered back-of-house areas, service circulation, support spaces, and operational requirements of large hospitality facilities.

A site visit to Sanchi Bhopal was conducted on 11th  August 2026 as part of the B. Arch. 5th semester section A Design Studio.  The current B. Arch. 5th semester Design Studio problem focuses on the design of an Interpretation Centre.  The student group, accompanied by Dr. Saurabh Kishor Ojha, visited the Sanchi Museum and Interpretation Centre to study them as relevant case studies for the ongoing architectural design AD studio exercise.

Accordingly, the visit was organized to provide students with first-hand exposure to an existing interpretation facility and its relationship with the surrounding heritage context. The visit enabled students to observe the spatial organization, circulation, exhibition areas, interpretation strategies, architectural character, visitor movement, and integration of the building with the historic landscape.

As part of the 5th Semester Design Studio for Sections A and B, focusing on the design of a 500-capacity auditorium, a team of faculty members and architects visited the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal campus to study key principles of auditorium design and planning.

The visiting team included Prof. Dr. Rachna Khare, Dr. Sanmarg Mitra, Dr. Anurag Aman Kaushal, Ms. Aparna Sai D., Dr. Saurabh Kishor Ojha, Ar. Chitra Mathur, and Ar. Vineet Chadda.

The visit focused on auditorium planning, seating arrangements, spatial organization, visual comfort, and acoustic considerations. The observations provided valuable insights into the relationship between seating geometry, audience experience, and sound distribution.

The visit was particularly relevant to the ongoing Design Studio and helped connect theoretical concepts with real-world architectural applications, enriching the students’ understanding of auditorium design through direct observation and experiential learning.

As part of the 5th Semester Design Studio, students of Sections A and B visited the Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha to study large-span structural systems and auditorium design.

The visit focused on understanding RCC large-span structures, structural behaviour, auditorium planning, spatial organization, acoustics, circulation, and structural detailing. Students gained valuable practical insights into the integration of structural and architectural requirements in public buildings.

The visit was accompanied by Dr. Saurabh Kishor Ojha, Dr. Anurag Aman Kaushal, and Ar. Aparna Sai D. Practicing architect Ar. Vineet Chadda also shared professional insights on structural design and architectural execution.

The visit helped bridge classroom learning with real-world practice, enhancing students’ understanding of large-span RCC construction and auditorium design principles.

The 1st year students were taken on a one-day site visit to Grassleela, Muskan school, and Tribal Museum within Bhopal in order to learn the different earth construction techniques on site, with an understanding of the relationship of Earth, community, design, and execution process. The site visit was guided by a special lecture from Ar. Sourabh Gujar is a practicing architect in Bhopal. The lecture session provided students with an in-depth understanding of Earth as a building material and its properties. During the site visit, the first-year students were exposed to on-site design execution and related processes, which included an understanding of different building materials. The expected outcome from the site visit was to be able to consciously choose the building materials like Earth, stone, bamboo, wood, steel, and concrete in collaboration during the early stage of building design. 

The School of Planning and Architecture,Bhopal (SPAB) organized an academic field visit to Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh, from 11th to 15th September 2025, as part of the B.Arch 5thYear, Section A Urban Design Studio. The purpose of this visit was to enable students to engage in on-ground explorations and to understand the complexities of Pachmarhi’s urban fabric. The fieldwork involved mapping, stakeholder interactions, and documentation across key thematic areas such as ecology, history and urban morphology, demography and socio economics, infrastructure, land use and governance, mobility, tourism, stakeholder perspectives, and public life. These aspects were examined through an urban design lens, culminating in academic analyses and proposals. The visit was facilitated with the cooperation of local authorities, and the students were accompanied by the faculty members Mr. Vipendra Singh Thakur, Dr. Parama Mitra, and Ms. Aparna D.

Muskaan School in Bhopal is a testament to the utilization of vernacular techniques and materials in its construction and ethos. This educational institution showcases the integration of local architectural traditions and sustainable practices, emphasizing the use of indigenous materials like adobe, bamboo, and thatch. By incorporating these elements into its infrastructure, Muskaan School not only promotes environmental consciousness but also preserves cultural heritage. This approach not only enriches the learning environment but also serves as a model for sustainable building practices in educational settings.

The visit provides a comprehensive learning experience in architectural and interior design elements. Located in Bhopal, Arcelia by Patel Timber serves as a rich educational resource where students delve into the intricacies of hardware, materials, textures, and finishes used in both residential and commercial spaces. The visit allows students to observe firsthand how different materials such as timber, metals, and glass are integrated into architectural structures, enhancing functionality and aesthetic appeal. They also gain insights into the selection of hardware like door handles, hinges, and fittings that complement the overall design scheme. Exploring a variety of textures—from smooth surfaces to textured finishes—students understand how these elements contribute to spatial dynamics and user experience.

The visit offers a glimpse into the modernization efforts transforming transportation hubs. Visit delves into the functionality and impact of vertical circulation systems, namely escalators and lifts, at Rani Kamlapati Railway Station. Students observe how these mechanisms enhance accessibility and convenience for passengers, facilitating smooth transitions between different levels of the station. The visit provides insights into the integration of urban infrastructure with technological advancements, highlighting the station's role in improving commuter experience and accommodating increasing passenger traffic. This exploration underscores the importance of efficient vertical circulation in modern railway stations, contributing to overall efficiency and passenger satisfaction.
